Dads are dumb

Have you noticed that in almost all TV shows and ads, the Dad is portrayed as a stupid bumbling fool, out-of-touch, and unworthy of parenthood? It's the Homer Simpson image taken to the extreme. Except that unlike Homer, these TV dads are not honest, well-meaning, if sometimes a bit slow. They are docile, retarded, sheep, to be condescended to by the mom and family.
